It’s that time of year again, where the pumpkins heyday is overtaken by the squashes’. Don’t just stick to the butternut, brothers and sisters! Be adventurous, try acorn squash in a soup, mash a hubbard, or twizzle some spaghetti squash around your forks. Continue…

Every January to March, food bloggers, Instagrammers and magazines alike feverishly await the eruption of rhubarb onto supermarket shelves. The glorious Pepto Bismol pink of rhubarb compotes, jams, jellies and pies comes as a welcome antidote to the relentless greens, dirty browns, and insipid whites that define the vegetable world, the colour palette extending only as far as orange (unless you count beetroot, which is usually dirty and brown on the outside anyway). You can choose which grains, beans and pulses you prefer, and if ever I have some leftover chicken, that’s worth shredding in too. Number 1 tip? Make sure you have some good quality sun-blushed tomatoes – they’re sweeter with a softer texture than sun-dried. Continue…
These soft, chewy, and moreish cookies give your picnic that much needed sweet treat that will fully sate all five of your taste senses. It’s amazing what you can do without having to add gluten or dairy, and this recipe, with its subtle spiced flavour, really is the perfect feel-good treat. So you can crack out your favourite vintage tin and fill it up with these goodies – enjoy! Continue…
Hello to all you picnic-packing folks. This is the week that I have been building up for. Make no mistake, I hibernate for the other 51 weeks of the year – but National Picnic Week (15th – 24th June) is my time to shine (even if the sun doesn’t). Continue…
